The Mesmerising Abode of Clouds

Yeah, I am talking about Meghalaya – Scotland of East. After finishing my final exam of engineering the very first thing I wanted to do is to run away with my friends or alone, unfortunately, I didn’t have the luxury of going with my friends as no one is willing to come to such a long distance and more over none of their parents would allow them. So I decided to take the trip myself. Well, this is the first time for me to travel anywhere beyond the borders of Tamil Nadu alone. But I am not frightened by the thoughts of going alone “Thanks to the experiences of Ooty”. I believed that I conquered my fear of travelling solo when I returned from Ooty and I was right ! This time, there is no “Fear factor” yeah honestly . And I didn’t lied to my parents, though they initially didn’t agree to my idea of going alone but after they found out that there is no way to stop me, so they just let me go.

“If you want something, you should fight for that if not, you will never get that ” – hard life lesson.

And its not easy to convince your parents without hurting them, yeah I went through lots of arguments to convince them. Obviously it will not happen without hurting them.

I travelled on budget with the money I saved for past 6 months for this trip, so I need to compromise my comfortability and I am happy to do that.

After 2 days hell of train travel, I reached Guwahati.

And the climate was awsome, and my best experience is reaching Nongrait village and staying there for a night. I can’t describe the feel of staying deep inside the forest with no outer world connection, and the sounds of waterfalls and birds chirping. Its magical! I didn’t have heart to leave this village. Unfortunately, I have to! But I will come to this place again in my life with my partner just to make her walk 3000 steps :P

Yeah, 3000 steps , I didn’t feel my legs for two days, this was the only mistake I did. I should visit this village towards the end of my trip. This made me to rest in my room and skip some places and I regret doing that.

“To err is human” right ? :P

I will plan better for my next trip ! 😉

And the other places like Mawsmai cave, Cherrapunjee, Ward’s Lake, Eco Park, Don Bosco Museum, Elephant Falls everything is beautiful but that Nongrait village remains close to heart 😉

And I managed to do all these things without knowing Hindi :P and I can’t forget the argument I had with an old man for not knowing Hindi. He was like “I should feel ashamed for not knowing the national language ” maybe he was right, I should learn Hindi”. But India is a diverse country with many languages spoken and I am proud to speak Tamil.

Now I belive, there won’t be anymore arguments with my parents for travelling alone
